About
Artist Statement
I am a multidisciplinary artist and craftswoman who creates ornamental artworks to bring solace, healing, and beauty to those who have experienced trauma. Because I want my art to be accessible to a broad audience I use common imagery that is easy to understand and relate to like floral motifs, portraiture, and common symbols of life, death, and growth. Using contrasts like flowers and skulls, bright and dark colors, hard lines and organic forms, fiber and metal, I show the two ends of trauma which are pain versus healing. Even though they are very different from each other, they come from the same source and impact each other’s existence and the choices made with each will change the outcome dramatically.
